At Duke Energy Gibson Generating Station 6,000 acres of reservoir, ponds, and wetland. Gibson Cooling Pond itself is a 3,000-acre cooling pond.
• The Gibson Lake Wildlife Habitat Area, a 160-acre area of natural wet-lands, is open to the public year-around. Unapproved access to other station property is prohibited.
• Cane Ridge Wildlife Area is a nesting area for Least Terns in SW Indiana which attracts a wide variety of birds year-around. Cane Ridge is located south of Gibson Station.
