In November of 2003 I was looking to put together a home page for my family. Our local cable Internet provider provided me with free web space, simple tools and templates to put together a home page. At that time I was pretty proud of what I had accomplished, but looking back now it was a crude attempt at a web site compared to what we have now. I wanted to add information about my work "The Wastewater Treatment Plant" to the home page, but I knew that I would need assistance. So I looked to my natural father, Thomas Woodruff. My father and I have not seen each other in over 38 years.
After the passing of my stepfather Donald Burnes "Uncle Donnie" to most, in 1988 I went looking for my natural father. Through a lot of genealogy, hard work, and interviewing relatives, I finally got lucky and found my step-grandmother who was living in Lancing Michigan and she was able to give me my fathers' last known address in Scotland. As it turned out my father had moved from that address, but the priest living there was nice enough to forward my letter.
We got to know each other through letters, but then we started conversing over the Internet for the last 5 years. Knowing my father had authored several web sites in Scotland I asked him for help. It didn't take long for him to teach me how to load the information I wanted to add about the wastewater treatment plant and learn a few new tricks along the way. As I got more confidence I wanted to add more information about Princeton.
We quickly out grew the local providers free web space, so with my own money I purchased web space and a dot com
name for the web site "princeton-indiana.com". As the site has evolved my father has learned a lot about wastewater treatment and I have learned a tremendous amount about constructing web sites. My father continues expanding and refining the wastewater treatment area of the web site and I continue to add new elements and information to other areas of the site daily. It has not been uncommon for me to get up a 2:00 a.m. in the morning and begin work on the web site.
My Goals For The Web Site Are:
My goal is to provide useful and meaningful information to our residents of Princeton about current and historical events in the City of Princeton, and to promote our assets and attractions worldwide to invite visitors and tourism to our unique city.

I was born in Groton Connecticut on a Navel base. We moved to South Carolina and when Mom and Dad separated, we moved in with my grandmother Stephenson in Evansville Indiana. Around 1967 my mother married Donald Burnes and we moved to Francisco and then to Princeton in 1968. I have resided in Princeton since that time. I have a lovely wife, the former Terri Witt and a wonderful son Randall. I have been employed at the Wastewater Treatment plant for over 24 years.
My father Thomas Woodruff was born in Evansville Indiana and went to Scotland in the 60's as part of the Polaris Submarine force that was stationed there. He made his home in Scotland in 1980, his work experience has taken him the length and breadth of the country, he has been living in Kilbirnie Scotland since 1989.

Thomas Woodruff was one of the 116 men aboard the USS NAUTILUS in 1958 under top-secret orders to conduct "Operation Sunshine," the first historic voyage under the North Pole. At 11:15 pm on August 3, 1958, NAUTILUS' second Commanding Officer, Commander William Anderson, announced
to his crew |
"For the world, Our Country, and the Navy - the North Pole." The 116 men aboard, NAUTILUS had accomplished the "impossible," reaching the geographic North Pole-90 degrees north.
