
Henry P. Soller, a veteran merchant in Princeton, was first elected in 1890 and became the fourth
Mayor of Princeton, he was uncontested in this election. Mr. Soller was
re-elected to a second two-year term as Mayor in 1892.
Henry Soller was born in Bremier Germany, on July 26,1833. At the age of about nineteen Henry came to the United States and took employment in the Princeton area, working for awhile on the Evansville and Terre Haute railroad between Princeton and Vincennes. While in the Vincennes area Henry Soller met and married Miss Frederica Seboden in 1852, and immediately moved to Princeton. In 1858 Mr. Soller went into business for himself as a shoe maker and became one of Princetons most successful businessmen of that time.
Henry took a great interest in the local affairs of the City and soon became city
councilman and was later elected
Mayor from 1890 to 1894. Henry also served in many capacities on local, city and county boards.
Henry died May 19, 1908 and was buried at Odd fellows Cemetery.
