Gerald E. Hall
Gerald E. Hall was elected the eighteenth Mayor of Princeton on November 6, 1934 when he defeated Sheriff George Fitch in a Republican sweep.
Hall was born October 2, 1904 in Homer, Illinois to James E. and Myrtle Hall. He resided in Princeton most of his lifetime. Hall was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Princeton, where he served as an elder for many years.
Hall attended DePauw University, and the University of Illinois. He was a member of the Gibson County Bank Board of Directors for 50 years, chairman of the board for 27 years, American Bar Association, and the Gibson County Bar Association.
Hall was a well-respected local attorney that specialized in real estate law. Gerald Hall was one of a handful of attorneys in Indiana that knew about coal, oil and gas laws.
Hall became associated with Embree and Baltzell in 1927, after serving as Mayor of Princeton from 1935 to 1939. Upon the death of C.O. Baltzell in 1939, the firm became Embree & Hall. After the death of Morton C. Embree in 1947, Hall continued in practice alone until being joined by Verner Partenheimer Jr. in 1961, and J. Robert Kinkle in 1979. Hall retired in 1979 from the law firm of Hall, Partenheimer, and Kinkle.
Gerald Hall loved poetry and could recite many lines of various poems, coming up with the appropriate verse for the right occasion.
Hall died November 21, 1994.
