Mayor Jack Nixon was elected the twenty-seventh Mayor of Princeton in 1980 and served till the end of 1983. As Mayor, Jack Nixon resolved the Southside flooding problems and obtained funding for the South Main Street Overpass. 

  Jack Nixon was born in Mt. Olympus, Indiana, on September 14, 1924. He lived in Princeton since 1947. Jack graduated from Mt. Olympus High School in 1941 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II, seeing action in Europe. Through out his life time, Jack had been active in various organizations, including the Republican Party, Princeton Chamber of Commerce, the Jaycees, Optimist Club, Masonic Lodge, Gibson County Shrine Club and the Princeton VFW Post 1147. For many years Mayor Nixon owned and operated an automobile service garage in Princeton. Jack served as a Republican on the Princeton City Council from 1976 – 1979 and was Mayor from 1980 – 1983. Jack was an avid golfer and involved in the activities of the Princeton Golf Club for many years. His family includes his wife Joy and his son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Sandy Nixon.
