| Lafayette Park |

On March 9,1896 the City Council agreed to
purchased
the Land North of Spruce St. and East of Embree St.
at a cost of $3,700 dollars
from Charles Gaffall and his wife for use as a park.
The land was commonly known as Barton's Woods
and was just out side the City limits.. |

|
|
City Council named the park in January 1899 and
from that time it has been known as Lafayette Park. |
